So after wondering around & getting a lay of the land, we decided to take a hot springs bath. From what I understand, there are several throughout Japan & they all have different mineral properties that are unique to that spring. It was so relaxing - amazing. After the bath, we met for dinner. As you can see from the couple of pictures included, we adopted a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Even though we couldn't figure out what some of it was, most of it was all really good. After dinner, we got some good laughs from a "worst case scenario while traveling" game. When we got back to our room, the table had been cleared away & our beds were laid out for us. Since we were definitely there for the experience, we were curious to find that the pillows were actually stuffed with beans. Yeah, no feathers here. I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we weren't fans of the bean pillows. I thought the futon mattress & comforter were really comfy, but let's just say we didn't rush out to buy the pillows for souvenirs! We were able to take another relaxing soak prior to breakfast. Breakfast was another "don't ask, don't tell". It was definitely the most unique breakfast I've ever had... smoked fish, cold soft-boiled egg, rice, tofu, etc. Hey, some eat cold pizza or left over Chinese for breakfast! This wasn't that far off, right?
